Artist statement

Art is my search for the essence of life.

In this quest, I balance realistic and abstract art, often intertwining one with the other. I use traditional techniques, oil and water paints on canvas or paper. Recently I have devoted my work to the hidden aspects of Nature. I paint in the forest. The longer I spend in the bosom of nature, the more natural my creations become. I paint in partnership with the More Than Human World, in partnership with trees, animals, plants and the elements. I believe that their healing power and multidimensional beauty will be transferred through my paintings to the interiors of homes, public spaces, clinics, and offices, to give people a moment of relief, a moment of reflection, and a moment of insight.

My background

Motyl - which means "Butterfly"  - is the name of a tiny Polish village.

That's where the forest raised me. 

Collecting my life experience in art schools, therapeutic education, and working with a variety of wonderful people in different countries,

I made it to the beginning.

I'm back in the woods now, creating good art in the forest studio.

Why signature A+Y?

A trivial reason, although it caused me many existential questions.

My intended name was meant to be dagnY, after Dagny Przybyszewska. To the amazement of my family, I was also a redhead. Fortunately, I didn't die at her age :) So my official name is dagnA. In Poland, at that time the female name had to end with A.

Y + A symbolises me as a whole.
